1. Classroom Opener (The String Telephone)

Prep: Make a simple "telephone" using two paper cups connected by a long, tight string.
Have two students stand far apart, pulling the string tight. One whispers into the cup while the other holds it to their ear.
Ask: "How did the sound get from Rohan's mouth all the way to Priya's ear without going through the air?"
Concept: Sound is a vibration. It travels through the string.

2. Core Concepts: How Things Work Inside

A. How Sound Travels (The Ear)

When we speak or clap, we make the air shake. These shakes are called vibrations.
The vibrations travel through the air into our ear.
Inside our ear, the vibrations hit a thin skin called the eardrum, making it shake. This sends a message to the brain, and we hear a sound.
Fun Fact: Animals like elephants and bats have huge ears to catch more vibrations!

B. The Digestive System Overview

Digestion is how our body breaks down food to get energy.
The Journey of Food:
1. Mouth: Teeth chew the food into tiny pieces. Saliva makes it wet.
2. Food Pipe: A tube that pushes the chewed food down.
3. Stomach: Acts like a mixer machine, mashing the food with special juices.
4. Intestines: Long tubes that absorb the good nutrients from the food into our blood. The waste leaves our body.

3. Classroom Activity: The Cracker Digestion Demo

Prep: A plain cracker (biscuit) for each student.

The Task:

Ask students to take one bite of the dry cracker but do not chew. Just let it sit on their tongue.
Ask: "What is happening?" (It gets wet and soft from saliva).
Now have them chew it slowly.
Discuss: Explain that digestion actually begins in the mouth, not the stomach. Saliva is the first "juice" that breaks down food.
