1. Classroom Opener (The Imaginary Emergency)

Ask: "Oh no! I have a terrible toothache. Where should I go? Who should I see?" (Dentist/Hospital).
Ask: "What if there is a fire in a building?" (Fire station/Firefighters).
Concept: Explain that a community is a team. We all need different helpers and places to live safely and happily.

2. Core Concepts: The Neighbourhood

A. Community Helpers

Doctor/Nurse: Helps us when we are sick.
Police Officer: Keeps our neighbourhood safe from crime.
Teacher: Helps us learn in school.
Postman: Brings letters and parcels to our house.

B. Important Places

Hospital/Clinic: For treating sick people.
Market: For buying daily needs (food, clothes).
Post Office: For sending letters.

C. Means of Transport

Explain that we use vehicles to go from one place to another.
Land Transport: Cars, buses, trains, bicycles. (Moves on roads and tracks).
Water Transport: Boats, ships. (Moves on rivers and oceans).
Air Transport: Aeroplanes, helicopters. (Moves in the sky—fastest way to travel).

3. Classroom Activity: The Helpers Charades

Prep: Prepare small props (a toy stethoscope, a whistle, a book, an envelope).

The Task:

Call a student up and hand them a prop.
They must act out the job of the community helper who uses that prop.
The class guesses the helper.

Verbal Quiz: "I need to travel very far across the ocean quickly. Should I take a train or an aeroplane?"
